Me AF

This album was my follow up to Feminasty. I kind of opened the pressure-release valve and said, “it’s ok if this is not as popular as the last one,” and that helped me have a lot of fun with it. The cover is made from paper mache letters that I filled with things I loved, which is mostly craft related. The album is produced by Rich Matthew and KEISHH.

I made 3 videos for this project (Bush for the Push, Paper Mache, Single AF, and Kiss Kiss I’m Fabulous) I already discussed Bush for the Push in an earlier post. Paper Mache steamed from being a chronic dater/single person most of my life. There are so many songs about love (finding love, being in love, losing in love) but there were absolutely no songs about being single and happy, so I decided to fill that hole in the marketplace with my own art.

I hate that whole narrative about “oh no! You may die alone” because we literally all die alone, so I made a video where I cast an actress in her 60s who was single but having a fabulous time by her fabulous self. This video was shot in my apartment and directed by me and April. I hired Lisa Paradise to make some fun cupcakes and I got a fresh dinosaur onesie for the occasion. This was another video that was made with a really small budget, but I’m a big believer that with creativity I can make any budget work.

Kiss Kiss I’m Fabulous was a mix of a Miss Eaves project, and the Every Body project. Max and I walked around the city and asked a bunch of people to be in the video. I really wanted this to be super inclusive and fun, and low budget.
