Improv & Now We’re Cooking
I can’t believe I have not been doing improv comedy my whole life, because it is literally one of my favorite things. I was in Montreal visiting (I know, I know, we got a room and I finally moved here) and my friend Jesse Freeston invited me to an improv workshop at Theater Sainte-Catherine, and the rest was history. I went back to Brooklyn and started taking classes at the Brooklyn Comedy Collective, and now I do improve 3 times a week sometimes because I am that obsessed.
I love improv. It gives me an opportunity to play with other adults and just let go when I normally am really in my head and organized. I met so many amazing people doing improv and I have formed some really funny duos with Pat, Melissa and Ngyuen, and I am even working on refining a solo improv format called “imaginary friends.”
I made these two improv cooking videos because I needed something to do and it was better than being bored. I made some paper mache props, set up my camera in my kitchen, and just started talking. The production value is super low, but I still love this because It’s a mash up of two of my favorite things: improv and crafting.
