The Every Body Project
One of my triggers is feeling left out, so it’s my goal to be as inclusive as possible. The Everybody Project was a Tumblr blog (YES I SAID TUMBLR AND BLOG), that I created as an inclusive space to seek style inspiration. I wanted to include people from all backgrounds as long as I found their style somewhat interesting. My plan was to walk around New York and (awkwardly) ask people if I could take their photo for my (tee hee) style blog.
There was one little snafu. I wasn’t a great photographer. So part of this project was me learning a craft so I could explore an idea. I did this project for 6 years and by the end I was pretty good at taking portraits!

I was (still am) really hard on myself, and I figured that was a little universal. In addition to taking everyone’s photos, I would ask everyone to give themselves a compliment, and I would use that as the caption for their photo. It felt really good to see people think about what they really liked about themselves, and have conversations and connect with people in that way.
It was a great way to learn about New York and meet new people. I met my friends Chase and Andi walking around Union Square. Both of them are awesome photographers and they really took me under their wing and showed me how to do things properly. I also became friends with some of my subjects like Mimi and Corin who I met in Prospect Park and then again randomly when I was on vacation in Montreal, and we are still friends to this day!
All in all, I am super grateful for this project and it was a really key memory for my time in New York.
