Brain Bees
Brain Bees was an art exhibition my ex/bandmate and I put together at Electric Mustache (the former art gallery in Krankies. This was my first art exhibit in a whole room and I wanted to make something big! At the time, Kinkos (now FedEx copy) had this giant black and white plotter that allowed me to print out really big stuff for cheap. I printed out some larger collage pieces and did a cut paper collage directly on the wall. It was a really good way to make something big when I had limited resources.
I found a higher-res CD of retro stock photos which allowed me to make better-quality collages. I made a ton for the show (I think 25) spray mounted them on foam core and hung them on the wall. I was still exploring concepts like overconsumption, capitalism and political greed as in my earlier collages, but because I had better images I was able to make something a little bit more polished.
